Transpiration in Plants

The loss of H2O/water from plant body through evaporation is called transpiration. This loss occurs through stomata in leaves, cuticle in epidermis & through special openings lenticels present in stems.

Most of the transpiration occurs through stomata called stomatal transpiration. The water is carried/transported/transformed by xylem to the mesophyll cells.

This water is evaporated through the surface of mesophyll cells and then draw ro air spaces. When it evaporates it passes through stomata and then enter into the outer air.
